12 Oct 05 - First Week at Work

Estella and I started our work as part-time English tutors for the public school in the northern part of Lazio this week. We are employed by AMICA association, which was setup 3 years ago to teach Italian children English through games and activities. We have to travel about 6 hours to and fro from Rome to the school for only 3 hours of work. It was quite tiring just travelling on the bus, train and car. We will tutor for one week in the public school.
Despite the long travelling, it was a good experience to be able to teach the high-spirited and active Italian children in Italy. We played games, activities and also to prepare the children for a presentation for the parents on Friday.I was not in the good mood on the first 2 days of work. Things were quite disorganized and I have to remember that we are in Italy. On the second day of work, Estella and I missed the train to Orte and we were late for one hour and thus late for work for one hour. Despite of how I lousy I felt, God is always so full of surprises. He showed me 2 rainbows on the sky on my way home. Rainbow always reminds me of God’s covenant and promises to us ;-)
The children are really hyperactive but adorable and I start to grow to like them. They are not that hard to manage and I taught them a new song called "Dancing snowflakes" today.

6 hours to and from work!! Heh I shall not grumble the next time I have to take the MRT to work again...
Yep - however lousy we feel, God is still good. I'm also having a lousy week of sorts cos there's so much to do at work and so many deadlines cropping up, but God keeps my spirits high. Continue to trust and persevere in Him above. =)
