I have been reading a book, “History of the World in Christian Perspective” by Jerry H. Combee and it really helps me to understand the history all over the world and the bible better too. Bible is a very special history book that tells the stories of people living in different eras, culture and beliefs and how God works through people throughout the history and even now. It makes me realised the importance of history in our lives as the past links to our present and the future. “All new news is old news happening to new people”, said by Malcom Muggeridge, is indeed true. Throughout history, we see how civilizations rose and fell due to the leadership. It is possible for one person to lead millions of people into untold evil as the nation has ceased to think clearly. The government only is not enough to bring the nation to be great but the leaders and the people must be touched by something greater than themselves.

The Bible is a book whose facts can be tested outside of itself. The historical, geographical, archaeological and prophetic data can be verified from outside the Scriptures. It is the most widely read book in the world which stirs up a lot of emotions, discussions and arguments which no other books can do. It’s worth the time and effort to read this provocative historical book that has changed many lives.

Some civilizations made great development and impacts in our present days. Hebrews provided us a base for our moral categories. We should be thankful for the written Word, which we have now. Without it being written, we will not be able to know, understand, and appreciate the power of life. I will learn to write down what I have learnt. You never know what you have written down can be a blessing to others.

Not all civilizations influenced and impacted the world, some destroyed, some built and some living lives for economic and warring purposes. In the same way, how do we live our lives in our society and the world? Do you want to destroy, build or sail through life as the wind and tides bring us without a destination? I believe that as one man can lead millions to untold evil so can one man lead many to life.
